Acrylic Acid-2-acrylamide-2-Methylpropane Sulfonic Acid Copolymer (AA/AMPS) is a type of block copolymer whose monomers are specifically acrylic acid and acrylamide Methyl propane sulfonic acid. The main chain of AA/AMPS copolymer contains 40% of acrylic acid. It is chemically highly polar and this polarity property of AA/AMPS is widely used in water treatment industries. The largest target industries of this copolymer are water purification industries and dye and textile industries.
Another application of this chemical is a corrosion inhibitor and sediment on metals such as iron and steel. The production process of AA/AMPS:
First, to start the copolymerization process, add a certain amount of deionized water and isopropanol to the reactor. Adding these materials is aimed at controlling the reaction parameters, and it is better to put these materials in the reactor for 15 minutes before starting the process, and by stirring them, the reactor is ready to start the process. The process begins by adding AA and AMPS into the reactor and the titration process will continue for one hour.
The reaction is continued for 2 hours at a temperature of 30 ° C, in the last step, we add sodium to the contents inside the reactor and bring the acidity of the solution to 4, the colorless and clear solution and the desired product will come.
AA/AMPS Copolymer Uses:
The resulting copolymer, the production process of which was described in the previous section can be widely used as a dispersant of mineral sediments or as a stabilizer for calcium phosphonate.
Systems referred to in the industry as refrigerants and in which water is used as a coolant use this anti-Scallan.
The dye, resin, and textile industries use this material to spread the dye in the fibers and possible.
